The Falcon Future team is an ambitious group of high school students from the Science Research Club at Fountain Hills High School, an Arizona excelling school of 800 students located in Fountain Hills, a suburb of Phoenix. Led by Dr. Paul McElligott, a teacher and former industry researcher with an interest in alternative energy sources, the Falcon Future team is working with two Phoenix companies, CCR Composites and AFV Technologies, to build the Falcon Future car that will compete in the X-Prize alternative vehicle division.
Falcon Future students have already donated hundreds of after-school and weekend hours to design and build an innovative alternative fuel vehicle that will achieve 100 MPGe. One of only two high schools in the nation to be accepted into the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE competition, Fountain Hills High School is planning to develop a STEM Center to attract and develop students for careers in science and engineering.
