Education Outreach / Science Center ActivationThroughout the summer and fall of 2010, exhibits and public events were hosted by science centers nationwide to help visitors gain a greater understanding of fuel efficiency and climate change. The national education program engaged students and the public in learning about advanced vehicle technology and generated excitement about the energy-efficient vehicle options of the future. Museum activities offered hands-on and interactive experiences for the entire family to enjoy. Under the Hood - Drive Change Today! display carts were operated at the following science centers:

Interactive exhibit features included Build a Dashboard, Gear Shift, Fuel Our Future, Hi Hybrid, 100 MPGe, and Make Your Car A Winner.
Under the Hood – Drive Change Today! exhibit at The Henry Ford, Dearborn, MI. The Educator’s Guide to Under the Hood – Drive Change Today! provides resources and full instructions for the activities developed for the exhibits and displays so that teachers, students and families unable to attend science center events can participate in the activities. The guide was sent to 100 Science Beyond the Boundaries science center network members. Total public attendance for education outreach as of Sep 30, 2010 numbered 1,359,528. This figure includes 546,539 attendance for full exhibits, 736,179 for activity carts, and 76,810 for other public events. Publicity and media coverage of events has netted over 30,575,000 media impressions. |
