Jeff Alson
Jeff Alson is a Senior Policy Advisor in the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Transportation and Climate Division in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jeff has devoted his career to promoting a more sustainable U.S. transportation system. Currently, his primary focus is developing and evaluating vehicle technologies and policies that could reduce greenhouse gas emissions and oil consumption. Jeff first proposed, in 1997, the federal income tax credit for the purchase of more efficient, advanced technology vehicles that was signed into law in the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Much of Jeff's earlier career was focused on the environmental, energy, economic, and implementation issues associated with new transportation fuels and he co-authored a book and a Scientific American article on alternative fuels. Jeff began his career at EPA in 1978 upon graduation from Purdue University with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. He received the EPA Gold Medal for Exceptional Service in 1989 for his contribution to the Administration's Clean Air Act proposal.

Feng An
Dr. Feng An is an international transportation consultant and founder of Energy and Transportation Technologies LLC, a consulting firm specialized in energy and transportation technological issues. He is also a founding director of the Innovation Center for Energy and Transportation (iCET), a newly established environmental NGO based in Beijing, China. He has over 15 years of experience in energy, air pollution and transportation technology issues. He currently serves as a consultant to Hewlett Foundation and Energy Foundation's China transportation program. He is also a consultant to several environmental organizations such as American Council for the Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), and Environmental Defense (ED). From 2000 to 2003, he served on a joint USChina National Academy Committee on Future of Personal Transport in China. He was a staff physicist at the Center for Transportation Research, Argonne National Laboratory from 1998 - 2005, a faculty member at the Center for Environmental Research and Technology, University of California, Riverside, from 1995 to 1998; a consultant in Washington DC to US Agency for International Development from 1992 to 1995, and a research associate at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from 1990 to 1991. Dr. An received his PhD from the University of Michigan in 1992 and MS from University of Notre Dame in 1989, both in Applied Physics. He is also a board director of Professional Association for China's Environment (PACE) and EditorinChief of PACE online magazine Sinosphere Journal.

Neal Anderson
Neal has a decade of experience boosting productivity, revenue and profit for both start-ups and existing companies. He has recently consulted for clients including Stanford University and Idealab. As President & CEO of True Floors, Inc., Neal infused consecutive years of double-digit growth into a previously stagnant business. Before that, he co-founded creative agency Ideawork Studios LLP, helping quickly build it into a profitable, award-winning business with key clients including PBS, Tenet Healthcare, and Ziff Davis. Earlier, Neal worked with several creative agencies, spearheaded one of the first online marketplaces for government procurement with Visa and Chase, and ran Marketing & PR for a remote communications software company. Neal holds a BA in English from UC Santa Barbara.

Gale Banks
A futurist, inventor and entrepreneur, Gale Banks is known worldwide for his company's innovations in turbocharging and diesel technology. Virtually unpublished is Gale's dedication to powertrain efficiency and emissions reduction encompassing the majority of his five-decade career. Stimulated by the 1974 fuel crisis, Banks designed fuel-efficient, engineered power systems. These Banks Power Packs have been on sale for every one of the last 33 years, primarily for the major fuel economy offenders: pickups and RVs. An early advocate of small, turbocharged engines, Banks became the power system technology vendor for the NHTSA Large Research Safety Vehicle prototype in 1975. The project was presented to Congress as passing 1985 emissions and 27.5 mpg fuel economy goals 10 years ahead of time. Later, Volvo funded a Banks turbo prototype program on their 242 auto. As a result, and based on the Lambda Sonde system developed by Bosch and Volvo, Banks built the first-ever electronic fuel-injected, turbocharged, Lambda-sensing, ECU-managed engine. In 1981 Banks built a twin-turbo prototype vehicle — the father of the Buick Grand National, a fuel-pinching super-car. Other GM projects included a low-drag aerodynamics demonstration of the third-generation Firebird, resulting in a top speed of 283 mph and a world record in 1987, and a V-6 pickup project for GMC, posting a 210-mph world record for pickup trucks in 1991. As a result of Banks' participation in a 1975 JPL/Cal Tech study, Gale has had a consuming interest in the inherent efficiency of diesel. That led to Banks starting the diesel performance and efficiency aftermarket, beginning with a turbocharger system for the GM 6.2-liter in 1981. Stunning gains in power, fuel efficiency and emissions resulted. Banks provided the system to GMC as original equipment in 1988-90. Today, the core of "Banks Power" products is diesel, and Banks is directly involved in marketing his concept of high-speed, lightweight diesel for future light-duty vehicle apps. A study of all compression ignition fuel types extant is underway at Banks, utilizing a lab-standard high-speed V-8 engine. The study will include power, fuel efficiency and emissions comparison. At 222 mph, Banks' diesel "Dakota Sidewinder" shattered the record for the world's fastest pickup, yet gets 24.5 mpg on the highway! (For more on Banks projects, visit BanksPower.com.) Recently, GM Powertrain named Gale Banks Engineering the exclusive worldwide distributor of the Duramax V-8 diesel engine. Banks plans on developing highway, off-highway, marine and military versions.

Merhdad (Mark) Ehsani
Mark is the Robert M. Kennedy Endowed Chair Professor of Electrical Engineering and the Director of the Power Electronics & Motor Drives Laboratory and the Advanced Vehicle Systems Research Program at Texas A&M University. His interest areas include: Power Electronics, Motor Drives, Electric and Hybrid Vehicles, Superconductive Magnetic Storage (SMES), Aerospace Power Systems, Specialized Power Systems, Control Systems, Energy Storage Systems, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Power Transmission, Applications of Microcomputers to Power Control, Pulsed Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering and Electrical Failures and Hazards. He is a fellow of IEEE and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He has been a consultant to over 30 U.S. and international companies and agencies. Mark holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. and B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin. He has received numerous professional awards and recognitions, including IEEE Field Awards. He is the author of 12 books, over 300 publications, and 24 patents.

Axel Friedrich
Axel is a Technical Chemist from the Technical University of Berlin and has been with the Umweltbundesamt (UBA), the Federal Environment Agency of Germany for more than 26 years. Since 1994, Axel has been head of the division "Environment and Transport, Noise." This division deals with all transport related environmental issues, including air pollution, noise and planning. From 1993 until August 1994, Axel was the head of the section "Marine Environmental Protection" of the Agency. From 1990 to 1992, he was the head of the section "Refineries, Fuels and Reduction of Organic Compounds." Axel started his career after a job in the chemical industry in the Umweltbundesamt in the section "Reduction of Air Pollution from Traffic." Special interests include: Sustainable Transport, Climate Gas Reduction, non regulated emissions, and fuel influence on the emissions. Axel is Chairman of the OECD working group on transport, Co-Chairman of the Joint OECD/ECMT Transport Environment working group, and is a Founding Board Member of ICCT (International Council for Clean Transport). He received the Haagen- Smit award in 2006.

Mark Goodstein
Mark is a senior advisor and former Executive Director of the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE. Mark has been starting companies for almost ten years. He founded X1 Technologies in 2002, helping to spark the desktop search revolution. Along the way, X1 picked up awards and plaudits of all kinds, including the Technical Excellence award from PC Magazine. Mark directed product and company strategy, and was instrumental in Yahoo's licensing of X1 as its desktop search product. In addition to X1, Mark was one of the first employees at Idealab and a founder of GoTo.com (which became Overture Services and is now Yahoo Search Marketplace), helping define and launch the company in 1996. He also started Intranetics (now Intranets.com), XBeams, a structural prototyping technology company, Blackdart, an office supplies e-commerce company, and served as the general manager of a streaming media company called FasTV. Mark has a degree in history from the University of Chicago. Mark has also helped found two non-profit educational organizations.

Stanley B. Greenberg
Stanley B. Greenberg is Chairman and CEO of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner. Greenberg provides strategic advice and research for companies, campaigns, non-profits, and NGOs trying to advance their issues amid shifting social currents. Greenberg has served as pollster to President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, South African Presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, and Bolivian President Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada. Greenberg works with corporate clients including BP, Boeing, Monsanto, Comverse, Sun Microsystems, and United HealthCare. He also helped the Athens Organizing Committee, helping Greece prepare for the 2004 Olympics. Together with Republican polling firm Public Opinion Strategies, Greenberg conducts bi-partisan surveys for National Public Radio on the main issues of the day. He advised the Nobel-prize winning campaign to ban land mines and directed the year-long "People on War" project for the ICRC - a consultation with people in the principal war zones of the late 20th century. He is also a strategic consultant to the Climate Center of the Natural Resources Defense Council on its multi-year campaign on global warming. Greenberg is a co-founder of Democracy Corps - a non-profit initiative providing opinion research and strategic advice to aid progressive organizations. He also served as principal polling advisor to the Democratic Leadership Council during the formative years of change (1988-1994) for the Democratic Party. In 2004, Greenberg published The Two Americas: Our Current Political Deadlock and How to Break It. Greenberg also authored Middle Class Dreams. Esquire Magazine named him one of the most important people of the 21st century. The New York Times writes that Greenberg "acts as a sort of people's truth squad," while The New Republic describes Stan Greenberg's list of clients as a "who's who in center-left world leaders." Greenberg founded the company in 1980 after a decade of teaching at Yale University where he received a Guggenheim Fellowship. He was educated at Miami University and Harvard University, where he received his Ph.D.

Pat Griffin
Patrick Griffin has an in-depth understanding of how Washington makes policy and how to design and execute strategies to maximize a client's objectives. Mr. Griffin has 30 years of experience on Capitol Hill, in the White House and in the private sector. Mr. Griffin's public sector career has included serving as a top advisor to The President of the United States and to two Senate Democratic leaders. His private sector career spans 20 years, during which he has advised clients in designing and executing policy, political and organizational strategies. During the Clinton Administration, Mr. Griffin was appointed Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs. In this capacity, Mr. Griffin worked directly with the President, Cabinet Members and other Senior Officials in the Administration, as well as with Leadership in both the United States Senate and House of Representatives advising them on legislative initiatives, policy issues, treaty negotiations and confirmation hearings. Mr. Griffin has served as Senior Policy Advisor to two Senate Democratic Leaders, Senator Robert C. Byrd (D-WV) and Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD), respectively. Mr. Griffin was responsible for advising the Democratic Leadership and Caucus on policy and floor strategy. He also served as Secretary for the Democrats in the Senate, an elected officer of the Senate. Mr. Griffin has spent more than 20 years achieving legislative and policy results for Fortune 500 companies, non-profit associations, state and local municipalities as well as educational institutions. Before starting his current management consulting business with Maggie Williams, he founded and sold his government relations firm, and prior to that was Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the Government Relations Division of Burson-Marsteller. Mr. Griffin is the Academic Director for the Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute in the School of Government at American University. Before coming to Washington, Mr. Griffin was an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Mr. Griffin's education background includes a Ph.D. in Education, as well as Masters and Bachelors degrees in Urban Affairs and Policy.

John Hinch
John is currently the Director of the Office of Human Vehicle Performance Research within NHTSA's Office of Vehicle Safety Research. As director, John is responsible for NHTSA's human factors research, including the National Advanced Driving Simulator, NHTSA's participation in the Department of Transportation's Intelligent Transportation System program, as well as research on many advanced vehicle technologies. Prior to this job, John served as engineering policy advisor to the Senior Associate Administrator for Vehicle Safety, providing program and technical advice on a full range of research activities. John also served as the engineering policy advisor to the Associate Administrator for Research and Development. In these jobs, John has led several cross NHTSA teams. John acts as the Agency's focal point for event data recorders (EDR). His recent activities in the area include the notices and final rules on EDRs, participation in National and International standards groups, and most recently, he has edited a new publication on EDRs to be published by SAE in 2008. Prior to his work in the Research Office, John worked in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation as a special assistant to the Director and a defects engineer. Prior to joining NHTSA, John worked for ENSCO, a research firm in the Washington DC area. There he managed the company's vehicle and highway research programs and was responsible for operations of their full-scale vehicle test facility where roadside safety systems, such as guard rails, crash cushions, and other safety hardware were evaluated. While at ENSCO, John designed, built, and operated the Federal Outdoor Impact Laboratory for the Federal Highway Administration. In his first job after college in NHTSA, he conducted tire traction testing and research. John served in the USMC and graduated from the University of Michigan, College of Engineering. John and his wife Carolyn have two grown children.

Roland Hwang
Roland Hwang is currently working on transportation energy issues for the Natural Resources Defense Council's San Francisco office as the Vehicles Policy Director. Mr. Hwang has been with NRDC since October 2000. He is an expert on clean vehicle technologies and policies. He is the author or co-author of a number of NRDC reports, including In the Tank: How Oil Prices Threaten Automakers' Profits and Jobs, Securing America: Solving Our Oil Dependence Through Innovation, Hybrid Electric And Fuel Cell Vehicle Technological Innovation: Hybrid and Zero-Emission Vehicle Technology Link, Dangerous Addiction 2003: Breaking the Chain of Oil Dependence, Fueling the Future: A Plan to Reduce California's Oil Dependence, Clean Getaway: Toward Safe and Efficient Vehicles, and Dangerous Addiction: Ending America's Oil Dependence. He is also a contributing author to a number of other NRDC publications, including A Responsible Energy Policy for the 21st Century, Reducing U.S. Oil Dependence: A Real Energy Security Policy, and Slower, Costlier and Dirtier: A Critique of the Bush Energy Plan.

Andy Karsner
Andy Karsner has recently completed a remarkable tenure as America’s ninth Assistant Secretary of Energy for Efficiency and Renewable Energy and has resumed his career as an energy infrastructure developer and financier. He has been named to the Board of Directors of Applied Materials (the world’s leading nanomanufacturer and supplier to the global solar industry), University of Chicago Board of Trustees overseeing Argonne National Laboratory, Distinguished Fellow of the Council on Competitiveness, and Advisory Boards to the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE and Freedom Prize. While serving as US Assistant Secretary of Energy, Karsner managed the approximately two billion dollar annual federal applied science, research, development, and deployment portfolio, promoting marketplace integration of renewable and environmentally sound energy technologies for transportation, generation, and efficiency. In addition to advancing renewable and efficiency technology, Karsner bore primary responsibility for regulation, education, conservation, and efficient use of our nation's energy resources, including federal energy management and procurement, vwhicle technologies, national building codes, appliance standards, and the ENERGY STAR® program, amongst others. The US Green Building Council, the US Energy Association Efficiency Forum, and the Alliance to Save Energy have honored Karsner for his extraordinary record of public leadership on efficiency. On March 30, 2009, Andy was honored by the Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden with the insignia of Commander of the Polar Star for his work in developing and strengthening the cooperation between Sweden and the US in the field of renewable energy.

Sharon Lee
Sharon Lee, leading youth culture expert and Co-Founder of the marketing company Look-Look, Inc. has been at the forefront of youth culture and trend research for over twelve years. For nearly 20 years, Joel Makower has been a well-respected voice on business, the environment, and the bottom line. As a writer and consultant on corporate sustainability practices, he has helped a wide range of companies align environmental goals with business strategy. Joel is founder of GreenBiz.com, ClimateBiz.com, GreenerBuildings.com, and other popular web sites on business and the environment. He also is co-founder of Clean Edge Inc., a research and consulting firm focusing on building markets for clean energy technologies, and a senior consultant at GreenOrder, which consults with leading companies on strategic sustainability issues. From 1991 to 2005 he was editor of "The Green Business Letter," a monthly newsletter on corporate environmental strategy. Makower has consulted to a wide range of companies on corporate sustainability topics, including Gap, GE, General Motors, Hewlett Packard, and Nike. The Associated Press has called him "The guru of green business practices." Makower has been a featured commentator on environmental topics for "Marketplace," a nightly national business program on public radio, and appears frequently in both broadcast and print media.

William McDonough
William McDonough is a world-renowned architect and designer and winner of three U.S. presidential awards: the Presidential Award for Sustainable Development (1996), the National Design Award (2004); and the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award (2003). He is founder and principal of two design firms: William McDonough + Partners, Architecture and Community Design, which has created numerous landmarks of the sustainability movement since 1981, and McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry, which employs a comprehensive Cradle to Cradle design protocol to chemical benchmarking, supply-chain integration, energy and materials assessment, clean-production qualification, and sustainability issue management and optimization. Time magazine recognized him as a "Hero for the Planet" in 1999, stating that "his utopianism is grounded in a unified philosophy that - in demonstrable and practical ways - is changing the design of the world."

Bill McInturff
Bill McInturff is a partner and co-founder of Public Opinion Strategies, a national political and public affairs survey research firm. Since its founding in 1991, the firm has completed more than 3 million interviews with voters and consumers in all fifty states and over a dozen foreign countries, and conducted more than 2,400 focus groups. Called by The New York Times, "the leading Republican polling company," Public Opinion Strategies currently represents seventeen U.S. Senators, ten governors, and over 50 Members of Congress. Bill conducted the polling for Senator John McCain's presidential campaign and continues to be actively engaged in American politics, conducting national survey research on behalf of the Republican Governors Association. Working with Democratic pollster Peter Hart, Bill is the Co-Director of the NBC News/Wall Street Journal National Poll.

Ronald Medford
Ron is currently the Senior Associate Administrator (SAA) for Vehicle Safety at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), U.S. Department of Transportation. As the SAA for Vehicle Safety, Mr. Medford is responsible for overseeing the NTHSA Rulemaking, Enforcement and Applied Research Programs. Mr. Medford joined NHTSA on May 19, 2003. Prior to joining NHTSA, Mr. Medford was the Assistant Executive Director for Hazard Identification & Reduction at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). In this position Mr. Medford was responsible for the regulatory and technical work of the Agency. This included overseeing the Directorates for Engineering Sciences, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Chemistry and Engineering Laboratories and Economic Analysis. Mr. Medford spent over 25 years in a variety of technical management positions at the CPSC. A few months prior to joining NHTSA, Mr. Medford spent 10 months on a government-sponsored sabbatical to work with Dean Kamen, an inventor from Manchester, New Hampshire. Mr. Kamen is president of Deka Research and Development Corporation and is most recently known for his inventions of the IBOT(TM) wheel chair and the Segway(TM) Human Transporter (HT). These two products rely on gyroscopes and motors to balance on two wheels. The IBOT allows wheel chair users to climb stairs and to balance on two-wheels in order to be at eye level when seated. The Segway HT is a device intended to allow for individual transportation in an electrically powered device, intended for use on sidewalks and other non-road uses. Mr. Medford worked on safety issues related to these two products while on sabbatical. Mr. Medford holds a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Maryland. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife Suzanne.
Norm Meyrowitz
Norm Meyrowitz is currently principal of NKM Advisors, consulting to startups in the high-tech arena. In 2004, he finished his second stint as President of Macromedia Products, overseeing the introduction of the award-winning Breeze, Contribute, FlashPaper, Flex, FlashLite, FlashCast, and MX 2004 products. Before that, he oversaw Macromedia's New Business Opportunities effort as well as Macromedia Ventures. In his first stint as President of Macromedia Products, he drove the introduction of Flash, Shockwave, Director and Dreamweaver. He helped put Macromedia, a profitable, publicly-traded NASDAQ company (recently acquired by Adobe), on the track of more than $400 million of annual revenues. From May 1991 to October 1993, he served as Director of Software at Go Corporation, a Kleiner-Perkins funded startup. From October 1981 to May 1991, he served in various positions at Brown University; in his last position, he was Co-Director of the University's Institute for Research in Information and Scholarship (IRIS), which he co-founded in 1983. Meyrowitz managed and was the principal architect of IRIS's Intermedia system, a networked, multi-user hypermedia system that was a forerunner to the World Wide Web. He graduated from Brown University in 1981 with a Sc.B. degree in Computer Science.

Matt Peterson
Matt Petersen has led Global Green USA since 1994, building and guiding the organization's innovative programs and initiatives. He serves on the Managing Committee of Green Cross International and is Coordinator of GCI's Energy and Resource Efficiency Program. Previously, he ran local, state, and federal political campaigns as well as serving as the Executive Director of Americans for a Safe Future. Matt is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Pacific Council on International Policy. He serves on the advisory board of the Environmental Media Association, the board of the Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability, and the City of Santa Monica Environmental Task Force. He holds his Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and BA in Political Science from California State University at Chico.

Phil Recht
Phil is a partner at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, serving as leader of the firm's California Government Practice Group since 1999. His practice focuses on legislative, regulatory and enforcement matters before federal, state and local governments, with particular expertise in transportation, health care, trade association, and election law matters. Phil served as Chief Counsel and Deputy Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, from 1995-1999, during the Clinton Administration. Phil earlier served as Chief Counsel for the California Clinton for President campaign in 1991-92.

Jeremy Rosner
Jeremy Rosner is Senior Vice President of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner. Rosner has directed polling and provided strategic advice for dozens of corporations, campaigns, and issue groups in the United States and around the world. In 2005, CNN named Jeremy Rosner one of five political consultants who could be "the next Karl Rove." Rosner has worked with such companies as BP, Monsanto, Sun Microsystems, Sainsbury's, and Fitch Ratings; and with political leaders in Britain, Italy, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Mexico, Bolivia, Peru and the U.S. (including presidential and vice presidential candidates Al Gore and Joe Lieberman); Other examples include the Athens Olympics Organizing Committee, The Markle Foundation, Democracy Corps, the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, the Open Society Institute, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. Previously, Rosner served as Special Adviser to President Clinton and Secretary of State Albright, with the responsibility of leading the administration's push to add Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic to the NATO Alliance. From 1993-94, Rosner served as Special Assistant to President Clinton as Counselor and Senior Director for Legislative Affairs on the staff of the National Security Council. Rosner has been an adjunct professor at American University and has lectured at several other universities. He holds a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government (1982), as well as a BA in Politics, summa cum laude, from Brandeis University (1979).

S.M. Shahed
S.M. Shahed is currently serving as Corporate Fellow, Honeywell Turbo Technologies - a business unit of Honeywell International. Shahed has worked for 35 years in developing emissions control technology for diesel and gasoline engines. His publications in this field have received several prestigious international awards including James Clayton Award, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK), Horning Memorial Award, Society of Automotive Engineers, SAE International, Arch Colwell Award, SAE. He is a Fellow of SAE, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and IAE (Institute for the Advancement of Engineering). He was awarded the Distinguished Service Citation of the University of Wisconsin. His work at Honeywell involves developing and applying advanced boosting technology to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy of gasoline and diesel engines for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and equipment. As Corporate Fellow he currently serves in a technical leadership and advisory position, having stepped away from technical management responsibilities. He has served on the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley and University of Texas, San Antonio. He has worked extensively in research and development at Cummins Inc., and served as a consultant to automotive companies worldwide as a part of his work at Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio. Shahed was elected and served as 2002 President of SAE International, a professional/technical society of ~90,000 engineers working on mobility technology in ~ 90 countries.

Michael Wang
Dr. Michael Wang has a Ph.D. degree in environmental studies from the University of California at Davis. He is a vehicle/fuel system analyst in Center for Transportation Research at Argonne National Laboratory specializing on energy and environmental impacts of motor vehicle technologies and transportation fuels. Dr. Wang has been working in the area of evaluating emission and energy impacts of new transportation fuels and advanced vehicle technologies for over 18 years. He has developed the GREET (Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Transportation) model at Argonne National Laboratory. The model calculates energy use and emissions of various transportation fuels and vehicle technologies and is being used by governmental agencies, industries, and public interest groups worldwide. He has conducted studies to evaluate energy and emission effects of vehicle/fuel systems for U.S. Department of Energy, state of Illinois, the General Motor Corporation, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Wang is the chairman of the International Subcommittee on Transportation Energy and Alternative Transportation Fuels of the Transportation Research Board. Dr. Wang is a member of the Energy Conservation Committee of the Transportation Research Board, National Research Council. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineer, the Air and Waste Management Association, and North American Chinese Overseas Transportation Association. Dr. Wang has served on technical advisory committees for several major international studies on advanced vehicle technologies and transportation fuels conducted by or for governmental agencies, automotive companies, and energy companies in North America, Europe, and China. During his professional career, Dr. Wang has produced more than 130 publications and gave invited presentations in many domestic and international professional conferences.

Geoff Wardle
With a Bachelor's degree in Vehicle and Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Automotive Design from London's Royal College of Art, Geoff Wardle has spent over 25 years as a professional designer and a design educator. Geoff has held both corporate and consultancy positions with various major European and multi-national automotive companies in developed and developing economies across four continents. Over the last twelve years he has also been involved in full-time design education at Art Center College of Design's late European Swiss campus (where he was Transportation Design Department Chair) and now as a faculty member and Director of Advanced Mobility Research. With such a wide and varied background in automotive design, Wardle has a unique overview and deep understanding of the global transportation industry in addition to a thorough knowledge of the technologies and processes that are changing the industry, the product and the product development process. He believes that designers should play a major role in future by facilitating the interaction of many disciplines to create smarter and more fulfilling ways of living that are not so mobility dependent and definitely less energy dependent. Wardle is now an active proponent of educating transportation design students to become much more aware of their future role as advocates of integrated transportation systems and increasing their understanding of how to address the problems that automobiles bring to the world as well as the pleasures.
